Renovating Palazzo Mellerio Milan

Super D17 floor system and RNW 411 isothermal dehumidifier

In the centre of Milan, stands a historic and prestigious building constructed in 1750 by architect Simone Cantoni.
Built on five floors, it has undergone renovation to create offices on the ground floor and prestigious flats on the upper floors.

As part of the redevelopment project, we supplied and installed the Super D17 underfloor heating and cooling system, characterised by very low thickness and low thermal inertia. The central element of the system is the rusticated panel made of expanded polystyrene sintered with graphite, with high mechanical resistance (500 kPa) and joints on all four sides for optimal coupling during installation. This panel can be combined with special lowered screeds and, thanks to its compatibility with the Ø 17 mm PE-Xa pipe, allows the system to be realised by reducing the number of connections and serving large areas with a single manifold.

Since the system will also be used for summer cooling, we provided the necessary dehumidification system to avert the risk of condensation on the surfaces cooled by the system and ensure comfort. In particular, RNW 411 ductable isothermal dehumidifiers were used, with summer thermal integration, installed horizontally in the false ceiling and consisting of a complete refrigeration unit (refrigerant R134a), centrifugal fan and pre- and post-treatment coils to be supplied with chilled water (15 °C).

For the management of comfort and optimisation of consumption of the entire building, a Wi control system complete with temperature and humidity probes will be installed in each dwelling.
